About BarryBarry Saide is the proud Principal of Roosevelt School in Manville, New Jersey. Prior to becoming principal, Barry served as a central office administrator as a Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and a Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction. This is his 20th year in education, Prior to becoming an administrator, Barry taught second, third, and fifth grade. Barry has built curriculum in all subjects, created and led programming, served on steering committees, and aligned assessment to meet the demands of state and national initiatives.
Barry serves ASCD as a Member-at-Large on their State Executive Board, writes monthly on their digital and paper platforms, and is an ASCD Emerging Leader and ASCD Influence Leader. Barry is the Past Co-President of NJASCD North, where he helped build and lead professional development opportunities for 10 of 21 New Jersey counties. Barry serves the New Jersey Department of Education on standards assessment. Prior, he served on three educator work groups, where he focused on career and technical education, model curriculum, and aligning instruction, assessment, and standards. Barry served in an advisory capacity to the Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation and National Center for Teacher Quality (NCTQ). In his role as a member of the Gates Foundation Teacher Advisory Council, Barry was a sounding board for potential educational policy, and helped in organizing and leading national and regional Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers (ECET2) convenings. In his role with NCTQ, Barry provided feedback and a thought partner for their Teacher Advisory Group. He focused on teacher prep programs, student voice, and education policy. |
